Glen also appeared as Mother Abbess in the BBC One drama series Les Miserable; in 2012, she played Madame Baptiste in the film Les Miserable. Among her other historical roles is Hannah More in the 2006 film Amazing Grace, John Ruskin’s mother in the play Desperate Romantics about the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and Judi Dench’s lady-in-waiting in Shakespeare in Love and Mrs. Brown.

Other notable appearances include a recurrent role as Sgt Jennifer Noakes in Heartbeat and one of the Calendar Girls. Glen is a well-known face in British comedy, having played different characters in Little Britain, Harry Enfield and Chums, and a famous small role in The Thick of It.
